Terms of use
Last updated: 6 September 2026
1. Purpose and acceptance
byLegit is an online platform that lets people write and read reviews about websites and businesses, and lets businesses reply to those reviews and claim their profile.
By accessing the site or creating an account, you fully accept these terms of use and our privacy policy.
2. Access to the service
Browsing and reading reviews is free. Publishing reviews, replying to reviews and accessing the business area require a user account.
You agree to provide accurate, up-to-date information when signing up, and not to create several accounts for the same individual.
3. User account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. Any action taken from your account is deemed to have been taken by you.
You can edit your details, profile picture and privacy preferences from the Settings page. You can also request the permanent deletion of your account.
4. Publishing reviews
Reviews published on byLegit must reflect a genuine, personal experience with the website or business concerned. You agree to:
- publish only honest, substantiated and constructive reviews;
- not publish defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, threatening or unlawful content;
- not publish advertising, spam or unsolicited promotional links;
- not impersonate anyone;
- not publish identical or similar reviews from several accounts.
5. Moderation and removal
byLegit may moderate, hide or delete any content that breaches these terms, without prior notice or justification.
In case of repeated or serious breaches, byLegit may suspend or delete your account.
6. Business area
Businesses can claim their company profile after verifying their connection to the domain concerned (via a professional email address or DNS proof).
Claiming a profile does not grant the right to delete user reviews. It only allows the business to reply to reviews and enrich the profile information.
7. Intellectual property
The platform's content (text, graphics, logo, code) is protected by intellectual property law. Any unauthorised reproduction or use is prohibited.
By publishing a review or a comment, you grant byLegit a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display that content on the platform.
8. Liability
byLegit connects users and businesses. It is not responsible for content published by users, subject to its moderation duties once it becomes aware of such content.
The platform is provided "as is". byLegit does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or the accuracy of all information displayed.
9. Changes
These terms may be amended at any time. Changes take effect once published. You are advised to review this page regularly.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties will seek an amicable solution before any legal action. Failing that, the French courts shall have jurisdiction.
